SPCA Westchester offers diverse volunteer opportunities and is host to a vibrant volunteer community. Let us help make your service memorable!  

Please read below to learn more about our current volunteer programs. We encourage you to refer back to this page in the future to find the most up-to-date information on all of our offerings. Please note, if you are looking to become a dog or cat foster, click here. 

1. Adult Volunteers: These opportunities are for those 18 years and older. Please see below for a sampling of our areas of opportunity. While many require a 2 hour weekly commitment on the same day and time, other opportunities can be conducted on an as-needed basis! 

  • Canine Care (Dog Walking & Enrichment)
  • Feline Care
  • Advocacy and Community Engagement
  • Welcoming Visitors to our Rescue Center
  • Veterinary Support
  • Administrative Support
  • Organization and Facility Beautification
  • Cleaning and Laundry
  • Special Events (Birthday Parties, Camp, Tours, etc.)
  • Adoption Event Participation
  • Transportation, and more!

2. Rising Volunteers: These opportunities are for those 10-17 years old. Rising Volunteer days are held once monthly on Saturday mornings. Please see below for a sampling of areas of opportunity. 

  • Reading to Animals
  • Enrichment for Animals
  • Adoption Event Participation

Other activities children can take part in (these do not require registering as a Rising Volunteer and do not require orientation):

3. Corporate Days of Service: By appointment, SPCA Westchester welcomes companies and local businesses for day of service opportunities. Volunteer activities include getting creative making toys or treats and distributing enrichment goodies to the dogs and cats, optimizing animals’ play areas, and much more! 4. Local Youth Groups/Clubs: By appointment, SPCA Westchester welcomes local youth groups from schools, scouts, troops and more for educational tours and activities. Steps To Get Started Volunteering: 

  1. Please review our list of Upcoming General Orientation Dates below to decide if one works for you! 
  2. Please Click HEREto submit your Volunteer Application. 
  3. After submitting, Click on the Registration Link in Your Confirmation Message to register for a General Orientation Zoom (the link is EMAILED the DAY BEFORE orientation to registered attendees).
  4. Attend the General Orientation Zoom on your registered date!  If you’ve lost the link to register for General Orientation, email Lisa.Fello@spcawestchester.org
