Volunteering at SPCA Westchester – FAQ’s
How old must I be in order to volunteer?
You must be 18 years old to volunteer in any programs with direct access (hands-on interaction) to any of our animals.
Is it possible to volunteer if I am under 18 years of age?
Yes. Our Rising Volunteer program has volunteer opportunities for those ages 10 to 17.
What are the protocols regarding wearing masks and being vaccinated?
All volunteers must provide proof of being fully vaccinated. Masks are required when inside our building.
How do I get started volunteering?
The first step is to attend a general orientation. For now, they are being offered for both Adult and Rising Volunteers remotely via zoom and are usually held once monthly. Schedule is available on this website.
How much time do I need to commit?
We ask all volunteers for a minimum of two hours per week.
Can I volunteer more?
Yes, but we suggest starting slowly and then increasing your hours as you go forward. We work with you around your schedule and where/when we need volunteer support.
