We drive up to the house after a lovely night out and look up to see Barley in the window.  As he recognizes us, he stretches with a play bow and before you know it he is scratching at the door to the garage to greet us.  We believe we will always be looking up at that window as we pull up to our house.  It is Barley’s window.  A window he greeted the neighborhood from with his version of the royal wave.

Do not confuse this with the dog standing guard because guard dog he was not.  He was, in that window, a belief that all is ok.  He greeted everyone with a wag of the tail or a jump up to steal your hat or a kiss or even just a nod.  Barley saw everyone as his friend.

But beware.  If you entered our house this fierce dog would take your shoes to add to his collection.  Mind you he never chewed them he would just bring them to the window seat he used to observe his kingdom.

Barley just brought joy.  This goofy happy dog with the little head and big body loved being Barley…his family, our friends and neighbors, his home.  Barley just had a way about him that allowed him to enter your soul and in return he was your lifelong buddy.

It is why not only his family, but his kingdom will always look up at his window expecting to see him.  And even though he is not with us anymore we all see him sitting there.  Just ask us and we will assure you he is there looking over all of us.  We can feel it in our soul.

We miss you Barley with all our heart and we thank you for touching us in all the right places bringing out the best of us.  We love you!!!
